PERSONALITY

Dauntless|Loyal|Adherent|Ambitious|Eager|Oblivious

Dauntless: showing fearlessness and determination

Patchfeather, though she seems quiet, isn't a cat who is afraid of much. She very much believes that she's had the toughness and heart that makes for a good warrior since day one, and so she can take anything and everything on. She wants to fight all the things she has to fight, defend all there is to defend, and be the best warrior she can be. To do that, she figures that she has to be afraid of almost nothing, and not balk at the things she is afraid of, though she won't admit to anyone that she's afraid of anything. She'll just have to push through it all. Who cares if she's still small? It doesn't matter! She can do anything you can do, and she'll do it better.

Loyal: giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution

She's still young, and she still has a lot to learn about forming ties to a group, but already Patchfeather thinks she has a pretty strong grip on where she stands. She loves her clan, as any good cat does from a young age. And why shouldn't she? She's treated well, she is loved, and everyone is safe there. She would never sway in her allegiance to her home and her peers, something her parents have taught her from birth to value. Others are important. Your clan is important, and every single cat and every single role played is vital even if it seems minuscule. She is not only loyal to the mass, but to her friends and family. A friend in Patchfeather means a friend for life, which sounds easy right now. It may not be so easy as she ages and her friends make mistakes that challenge her loyalty, but for now, everything is okay and as far as she's concerned, Patchfeather will never lose anyone because of foolish mistakes that challenge her views and morals.

Adherent: someone who supports a particular party, person, or set of ideas

The specific rules set down by the leader of the clan are there for a reason, and the warrior code isn't there just for fun. Patchfeather is a bit of a stickler for the rules, and she likes to make sure they are obeyed by her and everyone else. She will call other cats out if they're trying to do something they're not supposed to be doing. She doesn't really tattle, though. She just grumps and glares and tells them they're wrong and if they decide to not listen and get in trouble then, well, she tried. It's not her fault they decided not to listen. That doesn't mean she isn't all fun and games. She just likes to make sure everything is fair and no one is cheating.

Ambitious: having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed

Patchfeather has big dreams. Big dreams that she doesn't often talk about to anyone in fear of being laughed at or told she'd just being silly. Patchfeather wants to be the best mentor, then the best deputy and one day the best leader Oakclan will ever have. She has big goals, but she's more than willing to work had to achieve them, and show everyone she's perfectly capable of doing anything she sets her mind on doing.

Eager: characterized by keen expectancy or interest.

Now that she's a warrior, Patchfeather is more excited than she's ever been about achieving her goals and working to help her clan. Sure, it's hard work and getting up in the early morning for patrols isn't always easy, but it's going to be worth it in the end. So far, her favorite thing might actually be hunting, but she's not too shabby with battle moves. However, her tracking ability isn't as strong as she would like it to be (and she'd really like it to be as strong as possible) and it turns out she's not the best at climbing trees and things because she might be a little afraid of heights. Not that she'll admit it to anyone, because she wants to be fearless.

Oblivious: not aware of or not concerned about what is happening around one. :new:

It's not that she doesn't care. Patchfeather cares a great deal about most things. It just that sometimes, especially when it comes to her feelings and the feelings of others, she doesn't know what's going on until it's staring her right in the face. She can walk into emotional brick walls. Sometimes, it's just better to be straight and honest with her instead of beating around the bush. She probably wouldn't realize she had a crush on someone until someone pointed it out for her. Sometimes, she can pick up on things on her own but she's not the most perceptive of felines. And sometimes, she'll see things where they might not be. She spent most of her kithood convinced the other kits didn't like her.

More will come as she ages.

History:

Before Patchfeather:

Otto and Smidge were completely ordinary barn cats.

Occasionally doted on by the children on the farm, but pretty much left alone otherwise as long as they kept it rat-free. Every so often, when the weather was bad enough, they were allowed inside the farmhouse, but for the most part, they were outside cats and they didn't mind it much. Neither had been born there. Otto had been picked out of a cardboard box by one of the older children while in town and Smidge had been dumped on the long dirt road that led towards the property, and while their pasts had not been the happiest or the easiest, their lives on the farm were okay and they were happy. But after moons of friendship and day after day of filling their bellies with mice, water, and the occasional bowl of milk, they felt that something was missing. They put their heads together over many chats, watching rainy days and sunny summer afternoons as they passed, until they realized what exactly they were missing.

A family.

And so they made the decision to start one of their very own. Maybe the big hairless things in the house would take them inside and make one a pampered housepet, or give them off to nice, new homes, but neither of them would mind if the barn ended up with a few more sets of paws. After all, there was more than enough food and plenty of room. They could have many a litter before the barn was full to bursting.

After Patchfeather:

Smidge had hoped for a larger litter. One hundred kits, she joked, would have been nice. She loved the idea of raising a family. She loved the idea of kits crawling all over her and she wouldn't much mind if she spent most of her time surrounded by little ones. Otto assured her that one hundred was maybe too many all at once, but that he was excited himself. The day rolled around, and after an early morning labor, six little bundles of fluff and fuzz were nestled up against the first-time mother's belly. Patch, though she was the smallest, was the loudest and the first-born. She was followed in rather quick succession by her sister, Pear, and her brother Russet. Hare and Moth came not long after and Slug, true to the name, came last after a good, long wait.

Patch quickly asserted herself as the most dominant personality of the bunch. She was always the first to her mother's side for meals, and always the first to crawl away. She was loud and bossy, but Smidge adored her smallest kit. All that personality in such a small cat; she couldn't wait for her to grow up. She'd make an excellent mouser; she just knew it. The rest of the kits weren't quite as intense as their sister, but none of them were ever quiet for long and as they grew, it turned out that they were more fond of trouble than the kit their mother had figured would be the hardest to handle.

Patch, though, had never stopped being loud. It turned out that she was just bossy, and not trouble. Her mother finds it absolutely amusing to this day that her daughter is already so opinionated and bright. They're all smart, but when they are alone, Smidge sometimes admitted to her mate that Patch might just be her favorite, even if you aren't supposed to pick favorites.

Being young and curious, the kits soon found plenty of ways to get into trouble. The twolegs hadn't taken any of the kittens inside, possibly because Smidge had done a bit too good of a job of hiding them, but they also weren't allowed to leave the barn. too dangerous, according to Otto, for six very small kits. There were birds and things, and big animals to step on them, and neither parents wanted to risk it.

Well, the kits weren't having that, except maybe Russet, who was content to stay in the barn where it was warm and where food was always just within reach. Patch and the rest of the gang made a great escape one day, dashing out through a hole in the wall when Smidge and Otto were hunting. Before either parents could notice they were gone, the kits were out and on their way to the woods nearby.

But as kits tend to do, because they don't quite know how to find their way home again, the five of them got horribly lost. Patch eventually came up with the idea to hide under a rocky protrusion, to protect them from bad weather, or big things that would want to eat them, until their parents found them. After all, Russet had seen them leave. If Smidge and Otto hadn't noticed their kits were missing already, their brother would have told them. Except Smidge and Otto never did find them. Patch, now, is still sure they had been looking, but Oakclan found them first and the kits had all been cold, tired, and hungry enough to follow a few strange cats back to their home.

Patch had been wary of the strangers, but it had seemed like the better option. Even she was hungry enough to go back with them. Their parents would just have to look a little bit harder to find them then before. They were given new names-that was a bit strange, but whatever. She would accommodate them until she could go home-and they were placed in the nursery. After a few days, neither Otto nor Smidge showed up, and even Patch gave up on going home. She embraced her new life, and it's foreign culture. She grew to love it, and after a while, she grew out of the nursery.

Apprentice Days

After a while, she, and a few other kits from the nursery, were named as apprentices. Patchkit, now Patchpaw,  made herself perfectly comfortable in a new den, in a new nest. It was a little odd, but there had been plenty of familiar faces around her and so it was okay. She liked her mentor, and was determined to show Shalestone, and everyone else for that matter, that she was perfectly capable of absolutely everything and isn't afraid of anything. Making friends still isn't entirely easy, but she knows she has at least one. Beetlepaw was cool, and though she didn't always get along with all of her brothers and her sister, she knew they'd have her back.

Until they didn't.

Losing Pearkit was sudden and unexpected, but illness is not picky and the young succumb to it's wills so easily.

She got over it eventually. She had to really. Not long after, a bigger change came her way.

Warrior Days

Her days as a warrior are incredibly busy. It's difficult, balancing friendships and work, and making sure the cats under her supervision are trained into capable warriors.. It's not easy, but Patchfeather greatly enjoys it. Every little ounce of it, from waking up to crawling into her nest each night, has her smiling in her sleep. Of course, not all of it is easy and not everything is happy. She's lost another sibling, and she misses Harebelly dearly, but at least he lives on in a gaggle of kits, always underfoot and impossible to forget. It's not the same as having him around, but it'll do. And it's not like she's the only one of her litter left, anyway. Slugstep is still standing (Mothpaw's gone missing, which is concerning); her family still lingers on.

And she's not lacking in friendships either, though there is one that has flourished more than the others.

Patchfeather has known Beetleclaw for most of her life. They've been fast and steadfast friends ever since they were little kits in the nursery, playing make-believe with acorns and having a good old time. They were friends as apprentices, just beginning to know what it was like to feel busy but still finding time to just goof off, and they're the best of friends as warriors. Sure, they don't get to spend as much time just goofing off and having fun, but at least they can go on patrols together, and have nests near each other, and spend as much free time as possible together.....

They're mates now. She's pretty sure that no one is all that surprised by the fact. she couldn't be happier, honestly. It feels very much like fate and like the world's giving her some kind of a gift for persevering through it all. She's experienced a few losses in her short life (she's down to one sibling left out of the five she had), but it's okay. She's been strong, and now they're in love and they're going to start a little family of their own.

Being a mother hadn't been in her plans when she'd been just a kit herself, but she can't help but admit she's excited for the opportunity now, and she couldn't have a better cat by her side to do it with.

Beetleclaw is the absolute best, and no one can tell me otherwise. He's my best friend. He's more than my best friend. I care about him a lot and I know he cares about me, too.

I swear I'm gonna get to Starclan when I'm old and grey and I'm going to box your ears because I am so mad that you're gone. And then I'm going to snuggle you, because Ill be happy to see you. But still mad. Very mad.

Congrats, you lazy lump! You're finally a warrior!

Pearkit| (sister) sparrow-target  Skull and CrossbonesBullet; Blue

I'm sorry. I miss you so much, you don't even know. Well, maybe you do...Starclan and all, but I wish we could have gotten along better. I like to think you'd be proud of me, that I made it this far.

Mothpaw| (brother) Mossimoten Bullet; Blue  Bullet; Green Bullet; Green Bullet; Purple ?

He's smart, and I think that if he wasn't around, I'd probably get along with other cats even less. He's pretty good at trying to get cats to get along.  We've had a few chats recently, and I really have come to respect him more. I think we've gotten closer over time, and I know he'll make a wonderful warrior and a very patient mentor someday.

You better get your tail back here, mister. I don't know where you went, but I miss you.

He taught me a great deal, and I'm very thankful.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE

From a private RP

she had been trying so hard to ignore that itch, the one that came with being cooped up while freedom was dangled just in front of your face.it was a feeling she knew all too well, and it had been so long since she'd listened to it. the last time she'd come when it called, though, had landed her in prison and though she knew she wasn't going back there, she knew that outside of camp lurked a world that was much more unpredictable, and unpredictability meant danger. she didn't like the idea of danger but she loved the idea of seeing things she'd never seen before...and getting out of camp. sure, she'd been around these people back up on the ark, but even then she still hadn't been given much time to adjust to being around big crowds, and especially not for this long. she needed out. she needed to find some space to breathe for just a little while. they hadn't been down long, maybe a week or so, but she needed the break. she just needed to find the opportune time to sneak out, and decide if she needed to take something sharp and jagged along in case she needed to defend herself or something. they couldn't tell her no if she was thinking ahead and ready to defend herself if something, or someone, tried to go after her, right? they didn't need to know she didn't know how to defend herself, though someone probably already assumed it. there were plenty of jagged looking pointy things lying around if you looked hard enough, even if it was just a sharp piece of metal scrap that fit perfectly in a pocket, so she felt set.

for the past fifteen minutes or so, she had been wandering around the camp and slowly inching her way towards the edge, and towards freedom. if she was lucky, everyone was going to be too busy working on something else to notice someone as unassuming as her slipping away into the woods, and she'd get out without having to explain herself to anyone. or fight anyone off, because she knew there had to be at least one person who didn't think she could take care of herself and go for a walk in the woods for just a minute or two. or more, but no one needed to know she intended to be out there for at least an hour. she needed to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while, and she also wanted to see what lay outside of her boundaries. everyone else got to explore, so why couldn't she? she took a few more shuffling steps forward, and had just taken her first real step into the wild when she felt the presence of someone hovering behind her. it couldn't be anything dangerous yet. she hadn't gotten far enough away for that, and could still see everyone and everything very well if she turned her head. if anyone looked over for just a second, they'd be able to say something to her and try to stop her, so it had to be her first obstacle. "what" she asked, her tone reflecting the already-building irritation she felt "do you want?" she then turned on her heel and crossed her arms over her chest, looking up at her second shadow. just because it felt like he towered above her didn't mean he scared her, and she was keen to let him know. "do i look like i need a baby sitter to you? a shadow? a parental figure? because i assure you, i don't." oh, she wanted to tell him to shove his opinions where the sun didn't shine, but she would wait. it wasn't the time for comments like that just yet. but if he kept at her like she thought he had been-it had felt like someone had been watching her all morning-then it would be time."now, if you don't mind..." she turned back around and began walking, hoping he got the message and left her alone. after all, alone time was what she wanted, and she was going to get it.
